The Michigan Women’s Business Center is hosted by the Center for Empowerment & Economic Development (CEED) and housed in our Ann Arbor office. The center offers a strategic set of programs to entrepreneurs, assisting them in growing to the next level. Programs fall under the categories of financing, business development, women’s business certification, networking and market opportunities. Other training and networking events include Corporate Connection matchmaker procurement event which bring women business owners together with corporate and government buyers. Along with business training webinars through the Michigan Women’s Marketplace, the Michigan Women’s Business Center is partial funded by the SBA, offers face to face & virtual training and counseling to women business owners.

Michigan Women’s Marketplace (www.miwomen.com) – is our online women’s business community which provides webinar training, a business directory of several thousand women business owners, and a calendar of events for sixty-five (65) women and diverse business organizations. We have 7,000+ women in the business directory. The training center offers articles written by women business owners and industry experts, along with webinars covering topics on procurement, certification, and the new Affordable Health Care Act. This is all provided free of charge.

Leadership Institute for Women is offered in the spring and focused on developing second stage business management skills for women business owners. This “mini-executive MBA” was developed in partnership with Davenport University’s MBA faculty. 2011 theme was Women of Wisdom, each speaker had at least 20 years of owning and operating their own business.
